DETECTING THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN SERIAL DRAMAS,
GENDER ISSUES AND EUROPEAN YOUNG AUDIENCES
Welcome to GEMINI-SCAPES: Detecting the Interplay Between Serial Dramas, Gender Issues, and European Young Audiences!
Join us for an inspiring and transformative event that brings together an incredible line-up of scholars and creatives from the media industries. Serial dramas are significant cultural products that not only reflect but actively shape societal norms and values. As such, they are powerful instruments for raising awareness of critical social issues, including gender-related ones. Through narratives centered on both traditional gender stereotypes and more gender-inclusive models, serial dramas can promote gender equality.
The conference will showcase the innovative and groundbreaking research results from the GEMINI project, highlighting how serial dramas can contribute to gender equality among European high school students and teachers/trainers. This research spans various socio-cultural contexts and varying levels of gender equality, providing valuable insights into the production and narrative strategies that shape gender identities in media.
Our keynote speakers will delve into critical themes: Professor Danielle Hipkins will explore how teen film and television serve as platforms for feminist voices and embodiment, while Professor Francesca Comunello will address the challenges of digital ageism and the importance of youth-centered research in understanding gendered online practices. Their insights will inspire and inform our discussions on gender equality.
The final conference will also host a “Ceremony Award of the Screenwriting Contest” and launch the permanent “Observatory on Gender Equality and Diversity.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a movement that empowers young adults to create positive change through media. Join us at GEMINI-SCAPES and be inspired by the incredible insights and creativity of our esteemed speakers and participants. Together, we can shape a more gender-equal future!
